Israeli police thwart terror attack in Jerusalem

The Palestinian suspect was found in possession of sharpened scissors.

Israeli police on Monday thwarted a terror attack in Jerusalem’s Old City, arresting a Palestinian suspect in his 20s.

According to police, the man was acting suspiciously and caught the attention of security forces, who detained him.

He was found to be in possession of sharpened scissors, and was transferred to authorities for further questioning.

Last month, two Israelis were moderately wounded in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem’s Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood.

Days earlier, Israeli police thwarted an attack planned for the Passover holiday in the Israeli capital. The 37-year-old suspect from the At-Tur neighborhood on the Mount of Olives was detained while wearing a mask in the Old City.

During an initial probe, it was discovered that the suspect was in violation of a restraining order issued to him for participating in the hanging of terrorist flags on the Temple Mount.

In February, a teenager was stabbed and lightly to moderately injured in a terrorist attack in the Old City.
