Twenty-three senior Magen David Adom paramedics took part in a three-day training exercise earlier this month at a new simulation center at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, MDA said in a statement on Wednesday.

The center is capable of closely replicating real-world conditions, the statement said, adding that there are plans to train more than 100 MDA paramedics over the next few months.

The MDA-developed program is designed to “enhance the advanced life support capabilities of its paramedics, the organization’s most highly trained emergency medical technicians,” according to MDA.

“This simulation center is designed to provide paramedics and EMTs [emergency medical technicians] with an environment where they can learn new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and gain hands-on experience before having to apply them to a patient whose life is actually in danger,” said MDA Medical Director Dr. Refael Strugo.
