Israel launched airstrikes in Syria on Monday that killed 14 Iranian and Iraqi fighters, and injured others, the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOAR) said on Tuesday.

The opposition monitoring organization said the attack took place in eastern Deir el-Zour province targeting positions of Iranian and Iran-backed fighters, according to an AP report.

Syria’s state news agency reported that the Israeli attack targeted military depots south of Aleppo, but did not mention the strikes killing 14 fighters.

An uptick in Israeli attacks in Syria has been reported in recent weeks. Syrian state media reported on Friday that Israeli helicopters had fired several rockets from its territory in the Golan Heights at targets in southern Syria.

The previous week, official Syrian media reported that Israeli fighter jets had fired missiles at areas near Damascus from Lebanese airspace.

Earlier in April, nine fighters, including six foreigners loyal to the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, were killed in an Israeli airstrike near Palmyra in Syria’s Homs Governorate, according to SOAR.

“Prioritizing a political agenda over compliance with these requirements risks both federal funding and the public health of New York City residents,” stated Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.).
“I call on the U.N. Security Council to unequivocally condemn Hezbollah and designate the Iranian terror proxy as a terrorist organization,” the Israeli foreign minister stated.
Channel 12 report alleges Ziv Agmon made racist remarks about Moroccans and disparaged Likud MKs and the prime minister’s family, prompting calls for his dismissal.

“The world began to fall back into old, hateful trends,” said Sharon Nazarian, president of the Nazarian Family Foundation, a program partner. “Fighting hate is the ultimate goal.”
“Imagine you are at home. You have three children. Which one do you take with you first?” the Israeli envoy told the council. “Do you go back for the others?”
The terrorists were conducting military drills and posed “a threat to IDF soldiers and to the State of Israel,” according to the Israeli military.
