Tess Alps spoke out in support of Jeremy Corbyn in 2019 when he was accused of being racist against Jews, allegations that the Equality and Human Rights Commission confirmed.
British Labour Party councillor Sam Gorst claimed in a statement that he was being bullied and that his record “stands for itself.”
Jenny Manson confirmed in an email that she was issued a “notice of investigation” by the British Labour Party for comments made on TV.
Anyone found to be a member of four groups that promote communism and refuse claims of anti-Semitism will be banned from the party.
Instead, he will become an Independent MP, which has elicited mixed reactions from organizations in the British Jewish community.
British Labour Party leader Keir Starmer acknowledged that the reinstatement is a “painful day” for the Jewish community, but also remarked that Corbyn won’t be allowed to “prevent” the party “from doing the vital work of tackling anti-Semitism.”
The Equality and Human Rights Commission released a report that found Labour violated the Equality Act of 2010 in three ways: “political interference in anti-Semitism complaints,” “failure to provide adequate training to those handling anti-Semitism complaints” and “harassment.”
“Anti-Semitism has been a stain on the Labour Party in recent years,” said the party in a statement. “If we are to restore the trust of the Jewish community, we must demonstrate a change of leadership.”
Jennie Formby defended former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and his controversial ties, saying that it “is impossible to eradicate” anti-Semitism, and that it is “dishonest to claim to be able to do so.”
Controversy ensues over members invited to address the participants.
Gideon Falter, chief executive of the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, said in a statement: “In the dying days of Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, the Labour Party appears to have invested in a desperate last-ditch attempt to deflect and discredit allegations of anti-Semitism.”
In his acceptance speech, Keir Starmer, 57, apologized to the Jewish community and pledged to eliminate the anti-Semitism in the party, calling it a “stain.”
