The co-chair of Jewish Voice for Labour is under investigation by the British Labour Party for claiming that anti-Semitism within the party “has been exaggerated.”

Jenny Manson confirmed in an email that she was issued a “notice of investigation” by the party for comments she made on Nov. 17, reported The Jewish Chronicle on Wednesday.

The publication added that Jewish Voice for Labour regularly tried to downplay allegations of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party when it was under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn and has criticized its current leader, Keir Starmer, for not doing enough to combat the issue.

While a guest on the BBC Two program “Newsnight” last November, Mason was asked about the decision taken by a Labour panel to readmit Corbyn into the party. He was accused of ignoring anti-Semitism while serving as its leader and was ultimately suspended for claiming on Facebook that anti-Semitism in the party was “dramatically overstated for political reasons.”

Manson said on the TV program, “Many of us know that these claims have been exaggerated” and described Corbyn as a “very good man.”

She also said there were “many, many Jewish communities,” and that “a lot of us are very happy he is back in the party.”
