Mayor Adams, it’s time for action

We’re tired of your speeches, it’s time for you to do something about antisemitism.

We are past the crisis point for Jews in New York City. Jews are in danger. If Mayor Eric Adams doesn’t quickly take action, there’ll be dead Jews in the streets.

When that inevitable murder comes, Mayor Adams will no doubt give an empathic statement on how unacceptable antisemitism is.

Mr. Mayor, the Jews don’t believe you.

The Jews of New York are tired of speeches from this mayor. We want action to protect Jews, of which we have seen none. While Adams was elected on a promise of making the city safe, Jews have never been so unsafe as they are today in Gotham. Daily on Adams’s watch, we see Jews beaten and threatened with impunity by jihadis with face coverings who intimidate, terrorize and disrupt life daily.

Jews who haven’t yet escaped to Florida or elsewhere are wondering if there is a future for Jews in New York City. It certainly doesn’t feel like it.

At rallies, Hezbollah flags fly and posters celebrate Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. In the streets, elderly Jews are attacked, jihadis scream “Hitler was right” and at fifth-grade graduations, Jews are attacked with impunity.

If there is police action, there are rarely consequences for the perpetrators. This week, criminal charges were dropped against the Hamas supporters who took over Columbia University. The mob rightfully feels empowered.

While U.S. citizens are being held hostage in Gaza, there is open support for Hamas and Hezbollah in New York City. Mr. Mayor, it’s past time to take action.

You must publicly and loudly call for District Attorney Alvin Bragg to be fired for failing to enforce the law against antisemites. If you were to walk into Governor Kathy Hochul’s office and demand Bragg’s dismissal, she would have to take action. The pressure would mount.

Mr. Mayor, why haven’t you introduced hate crime legislation or banned face coverings? Why don’t you demand the police enforce the law and not let jihadi rallies block streets and roads?

You haven’t called on the FBI and Homeland Security to investigate these jihadi New Yorkers who openly support illegal terror organizations.

Instead, there’s only talk, talk, talk.

Antisemitism is flourishing at public schools as the New York City Department of Education accepts daily events where chants like “Kill all the Jews” are a regular occurrence. Students and teachers fear going to school because Mayor Adams has yet to fire antisemitic educators.

Mayor Adams, take action. Do something as loud as your speeches, of which we are very tired.

After heinous protests celebrating murder and rape took place at an exhibit on the Nova Festival massacre, Mayor Adams told influencer Lizzy Savetsky, “We have the largest Jewish population outside of Israel right here in New York. This is not going to be a city where you’ll have to take off your yarmulke, be afraid to walk inside a synagogue.”

The reality is Jews are afraid and many have taken off their yarmulkes because Mayor Adams has surrendered the streets to the NYC branch of Hamas. Antisemitism is flourishing in Mayor Adams’s city.

If Mayor Adams doesn’t very take action now, there will be dead Jews in the streets of New York and many more Jews moving to places where Jews are safe.

We need action and leadership. Enough talk. Enough speeches.

AIPAC spokeswoman Deryn Sousa told JNS that Adrian Boafo “has made clear his vision to carry forward the strong pro-Israel legacy of Congressman Steny Hoyer, one of Congress’s most steadfast champions of the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
The Associated Press called the race early for the Jewish Democrat, whom the mayor has backed.
