Rafael Defense Systems

Since it became operational in 2011, the Israeli air-defense system has saved countless lives and bolstered public resilience in times of conflict.
Upgrades include the ability to knock out threats at higher and lower altitudes, and to strike larger numbers of incoming rockets—a key capability in light of intentions by terror armies to “saturate” Israel’s air defenses.
Rafael’s air-defense system has successfully intercepted more than 90 percent of projectiles headed for built-up areas in Israel since 2011 and has become an essential element of national security, even as it had to overcome resistance before its initial arrival.
The deal includes the provision of Trophy active protection systems for a company of tanks, interceptors, spare parts and training.
Rafael’s Trophy system has amassed more than 1 million operational hours and saved countless lives in combat since 2011. It’s now installed on a growing number of armored vehicles, including on four American tank brigades.
The tests simulated advanced land and sea threats, says the Israeli Defense Ministry.
Held over the Mediterranean Sea off the Israeli coastline in recent days, interceptors from two Rafael-made systems—David’s Sling and Iron Dome—were fired at targets simulating a range of advanced threats, such as maneuvering ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz: “I am proud that this advanced system will also protect U.S. Army troops.”
The state-of-the-art Litening targeting pod was on board German and Israel jets in last month’s historic Dachau flyover, “a statement to the world,” said a business development manager at Rafael’s Electro-Optics Division.
Rafael and Raytheon are teaming up to produce missile-defense systems for both the U.S. Army and the Israel Defense Forces, with a senior Rafael representative telling JNS about how this partnership came to pass.
According to the “traffic light” model, Israeli cities have been divided into red, orange, yellow and green categories with different restrictions applied in light of each locale’s infection rate, as epidemiological testing has begun nationwide.
The Manor Division, part of the Israeli defense company Rafael, helps get satellites into orbit and keeps them moving in space for years on end.
