Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat dies of COVID-19 complications
The 65-year-old was diagnosed with coronavirus in early October. Having undergone a lung transplant in 2017, he was at a particularly high risk of complications from the respiratory disease.

The chief Palestinian negotiator was placed in an induced coma at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center due to complications.

Palestinian official Saeb Erekat evacuated to Israeli hospital due to COVID-19 complications
The 65-year-old is at high risk, particularly after a lung transplant he underwent in the United States in 2017.
“At a time when all nations are working to combat the scourge of terrorism, this ‘pay to slay’ policy does nothing but incentivize and encourage terror,” wrote Neal Sher, former head of the federal Nazi-hunting Office of Special Investigations.
“The UAE and Bahrain are contributing to Trump’s presidential campaign at the expense of the inalienable rights of the people of Palestine,” tweeted PLO Secretary-General Saeb Erekat.
In a 2014 interview with “Al Jazeera,” he stated: “I will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state.”
