Steve Witkoff

Steve Witkoff says uranium enrichment up to 3.67% may be permitted; Israeli officials oppose any Iranian nuclear activity.
Initial meeting “positive,” says White House; Iranian economy teeters while enrichment nears weapons-grade.
“We’ve been very clear—what Iran is never going to have is a nuclear weapon, and I think that’s what led to this meeting,” the secretary of state said.
No readout was provided of the meeting.
The counterproposal comes amid negotiations over a proposed 50-day ceasefire.
“I thought we had a deal. An acceptable deal. I even thought we had an approval from Hamas,” said the US Mideast envoy.
The old policy prescriptions for Gaza failed and Trump’s ideas have sparked “a lively discussion,” the U.S. envoy said.
The Witkoff plan also calls for the release of half of the deceased captives held by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
“Trump has made it clear that Hamas will either release hostages immediately, or pay a severe price,” the U.S. Middle East envoy warned.
Along with the return of several dead captives, the framework would see a 45- to 50-day ceasefire.
A senior U.S. official said Adam Boehler will still work on other Mideast-related matters with Steve Witkoff, U.S. special envoy to the Middle East.
The Doha discussions, which reportedly included P.A. official Hussein al-Sheikh, also covered the establishment of an administrative committee to manage the coastal enclave.
