Jewish National Fund-USA extends its heartfelt congratulations to Ronald S. Lauder, the organization’s chair emeritus, on being awarded the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, Israel’s highest civilian distinction. This prestigious award celebrates Lauder’s lifelong dedication to the Zionist movement, his unwavering commitment to the Jewish people and his tireless work in strengthening the bond between Israel and Jewish communities around the world.

Dr. Sol Lizerbram, chair of Jewish National Fund-USA, saluted Lauder’s achievements, stating, “Ronald Lauder embodies the essence of Jewish leadership. His passion for Israel and the Jewish people has strengthened our communities and uplifted countless lives. We are immensely proud to see him honored with the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, a testament to his enduring contributions and steadfast dedication.”

During Lauder’s tenure as president and later chair of the board of Jewish National Fund-USA, he played a pivotal role in advancing Israel’s water-sustainability initiatives, among a suite of bold initiatives he led. Under his leadership, Jewish National Fund-USA took unprecedented action to address Israel’s water scarcity, including the construction of more than 250 reservoirs and dams, which dramatically increased the country’s water storage capacity. These efforts were instrumental in enhancing Israel’s water resources, contributing to the nation’s ability to recycle 90% of its water today.

Jewish National Fund-USA president Deb Lust Zaluda echoed Lizerbram’s sentiments, adding, “His impact on world Jewry and the Zionist movement is immeasurable. His visionary leadership has inspired generations, instilling a sense of Zionist pride and purpose in Jews across the globe. This recognition is so well deserved, and we join in celebrating his legacy and the countless lives he has touched.”

Lauder’s profound contributions to Israel, Jewish heritage and global Jewish communities have left an indelible mark on the world stage. His leadership roles within Jewish National Fund-USA, World Jewish Congress and numerous other organizations exemplify his devotion to building a strong, vibrant and united Jewish people. As a philanthropist, advocate and leader, Lauder’s work has transformed communities, strengthened Israeli society, and championed causes vital to the Jewish future.
