Avigayil and Muhammad are the most popular baby names in Israel

Avigayil, Tamar, Yael, Noa, Adel, Maya, Sara, Libi, Ayala and Lia are the most popular names for Jewish girls. David, Ariel, Lavi, Ori, Refael, Noam, Eitan, Ari, Daniel and Yehuda are on the list for boys.

Avigayil and Muhammad are the most popular baby names in Israel, according to Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority, which leading up to Rosh Hashanah released the 10 most popular names for babies born since the previous Jewish new year.

The list, based on the country’s population registry, reveals Avigayil, Miriam, Tamar, Yael, Noa, Sara, Maya, Adel, Ayala and Lia as the top 10 names for girls from all backgrounds born in the last year. For males of all backgrounds, the most popular are Muhammad, Adam, Yosef, David, Ariel, Omer, Lavi, Daniel, Rafael and Ori.

Avigayil, Tamar, Yael, Noa, Adel, Maya, Sara, Libi, Ayala and Lia are the most popular names for Jewish girls. David, Ariel, Lavi, Ori, Refael, Noam, Eitan, Ari, Daniel and Yehuda are on the list for Jewish boys.

Federal prosecutors have reportedly subpoenaed financial records of Neville Roy Singham as they investigate millions of dollars in funding to CodePink and other left-wing activist groups.
“It’s certainly a fond goodbye,” the longtime director of international Jewish affairs at the Jewish group told JNS.
“A claim is made against Israel. The U.N. repeats it, the world condemns it, then the truth comes out,” the Israeli envoy told the U.N. Security Council. “No apology, no correction, no retraction.”
The tenured Arabic professor alleges that the public university violated her rights over a viral video she says was taken out of context.
Along with a group of intellectual activists, she founded Americans For a Safe Israel.
“I don’t think it’s new,” Ari Berman told JNS. “This is an effort that was there beforehand—there were some wins and some losses, and it’s important to be mindful.”
