Israeli forces on Wednesday shot a suspect in the Golan Heights who had approached the border from Syria, the IDF said.

According to the military, soldiers carrying out routine operational activity near the border fence spotted the suspect and fired shots to push him back.

The suspect was wounded and taken to the hospital in Israel for medical treatment.

The suspect had not infiltrated into Israeli territory prior to being brought for treatment, the IDF said.

The incident is under investigation.
