US concerned Iran could attack Israel for Nasrallah assassination

The two allies are readying a joint defense, including changes in American military posture in the Middle East region.

The Biden administration is concerned that Iran could strike Israel in response to the targeted killing of Hezbollah terror chief Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, a U.S. official told CNN on Sunday.

The official noted that the countries are preparing for a joint defense, which includes unspecified changes in U.S. military posture, while not specifying the type of attack expected from Tehran.

“Should Iran, its partners, or its proxies use this moment to target American personnel or interests in the region, the United States will take every necessary measure to defend our people,” according to a Pentagon statement on Sunday night.

In April, Iran conducted its first-ever direct attack on Israel, launching some 300 missiles and drones at the Jewish state, the vast majority of which were shot down in a multinational effort.

President Mohammed bin Zayed personally drove Israeli PM from the aircraft to the palace, Ziv Agmon reveals.
In a break with longstanding practice, the New York City mayor does not plan to join the parade this year.
The legislation, which aims to shield educational institutions from disruptive protests, passed the council in March without a veto-proof majority.
“We have to stop the defense,” the Florida congressman said. “You’re not going to mess with us.”
“The whole world has seen Iran was building up a conventional capability where they would have so many missiles and so many drones that they could overwhelm anybody’s defenses,” the U.S. secretary of state said.
“We degraded Iran’s ability to project power outside its borders and threaten the region and threaten our interests,” Adm. Brad Cooper stated.
