Israeli security forces arrested an 18-year-old Negev resident accused of planning a suicide bombing targeting soldiers at a Beersheba bus station, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and Israel Police announced Wednesday.

The suspect, who was arrested in November, was inspired by Islamic State’s (ISIS) extremist ideology, according to the joint statement. The arrest operation was carried out by the Shin Bet and officers from the Israel Police Southern District.

According to the investigation, the suspect took steps to manufacture explosive devices and was found in possession of bomb-making instructions.

The Southern District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday filed an indictment that includes offenses of preparing to commit an act of terrorism, receiving training for terrorist purposes and weapons violations, according to the statement.
