Only a credible military threat will stop Iran from continuing its race to a nuclear weapon, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said on Tuesday.

Lapid’s remark came during what he called a “long and warm meeting” with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, on the last leg of a three-day trip to Europe.

“I reiterated Israel’s position that Iran is trying to buy time in order to move forward with its nuclear program,” Lapid tweeted after the meeting, held as representatives from the European Union, Russia and China resumed nuclear negotiations in Vienna with their Iranian counterparts.

The Israeli foreign minister, who is slated to replace Naftali Bennett as premier in 2023, said that he also impressed upon Macron “the immediate need for the strengthening of international sanctions [against Iran], and on the urgent need for a Plan B” should diplomacy fail to halt Tehran’s march towards nuclear weapons.

“After many years, Israel’s position is being heard and Israel’s position is firm,” tweeted Lapid.

Also on Tuesday, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Brig. Gen. Ran Kochav told Israel’s Reshet Bet radio station that the Israeli military has accelerated its preparations to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear threshold state.

Asked to comment on the nuclear talks in Vienna, Kochav replied: “I’m not going into political affairs. As we’ve said in the past, we are preparing for all possibilities.”

“The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said.
The police department told JNS that no injuries were reported in either incident, which took place on July 16.
“The forest, the fields, the tractor, the threshing floor and the local swimming pool were all part of childhood,” said Efrat Sinai, director of archives at KKL-JNF. “These weren’t staged vacation moments; they were everyday life.”
Fire damaged more than 30 structures, destroyed 15 homes and 10 businesses, and forced the evacuation of some 100 families.
Jerusalem began cracking down on the Health Work Committees group following its involvement in the murder of 17-year-old Israeli teenager Rina Shnerb in 2019.
