For the first time since Oslo, the Civil Administration enforced the law against illegal construction inside a nature reserve in Judea and Samaria.
This marks the first time in a decade that illegal construction has dropped, accompanied by increased enforcement by Israel’s Civil Administration.
“I’m a loyal and law-abiding Jewish citizen of the State of Israel, I expect Israel to let me continue working and back me and all of our citizens possibly impacted by this decision,” said Shabtai Koshlevsky, one of the targets of the U.S. administration’s new round of sanctions.
“It will not be easy to enforce this decision, but I hope the Civil Administration will now act,” said Knesset member Simcha Rothman.
“The administration targeted individuals for engaging in legitimate protest activities,” says a lawyer involved in the case.
Sebastia/Shomron is a “hot spot for Palestinian Authority historical revisionism,” said the head of Regavim’s International Division.
Some 80 members of the P.A. security forces were involved in acts of terrorism between 2021 and 2023, according to Regavim.
Regavim discovered tens of thousands of illegal structures along the Judea and Samaria security barrier, much of it constructed in the last 10 months.
At least one of the destroyed houses belonged to an IDF reservist.
