Secure Community Network provides ‘Stop the Bleed’ kits to Jewish organizations

“We will continue to distribute no-cost kits and just as critically, train these communities,” SCN’s national training and exercise adviser tells JNS.

An organization committed to defending Jewish life will offer training and supplies to administer emergency treatment in the event of an antisemitic shooting.

This month, the Secure Community Network (SCN) provided 188 Stop the Bleed kits and training to Jewish communities in Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming.

“According to the American College of Surgeons, blood loss is the leading cause of preventable death from injuries, which is why we thought it was so critical to develop a training curriculum and create this partnership,” Stuart Frisch, SCN’s national training and exercise adviser, told JNS. “These ‘Stop the Bleed’ kits are an essential tool that every institution should have on hand.”

Frisch urged “that as many community members as possible are trained on how to use these kits to save lives,” emphasizing that everyone should receive instruction, “including children starting in middle school.”

Noting that the group had chosen to launch the project during National Stop the Bleed month, he said SCN sought “not only to raise awareness of this life-saving tool and training but to actualize it by providing ‘Stop the Bleed’ kits to under-resourced communities that need them the most.”

SCN intends to “continue to distribute no-cost kits and just as critically, train these communities on how to act quickly when seconds count,” Frisch said.

Michael Masters, SCN’s national director and CEO, said, “Stop the Bleed training and the equipment that supports the training is a vital part of ensuring we are all prepared, as a community. We are grateful for our partnership with North American Rescue to be able to provide them to under-resourced Jewish communities.”
