Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) Director David Zini announced Wednesday that he appointed N. as the internal security and counterintelligence service’s new deputy head.
The appointment, approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, takes effect next month.
N. started as a coordinator in the southern region and held various field and headquarters roles during his career. After retiring, he worked in several security and public sector positions.
He replaces current deputy chief Shin, who is retiring after 30 years with the agency.
Zini thanked Shin for serving as deputy during a critical period and for his contributions to Israeli security.
The names were withheld for security reasons, following standard Israeli practice for intelligence officials.
