Police have arrested a 51-year-old resident of Yafia, southwest of Nazareth, in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a Jewish woman in Tiberias on Tuesday.
Initial findings point to a nationalist motive, but the investigation is ongoing, according to a police spokesperson.
The woman, who is in her 20s, called the police emergency hotline, informing them that a stranger had tried to force her into his car on the city’s David Remez Street. Northern District police officers arrived and began searching nearby streets. They soon arrested the suspect.
“The suspect was brought to the police station in the city for questioning. At this stage the investigation is in its infancy and all directions of the investigation are being examined,” police said in a statement.
