The Israeli-American Civic Action Network stated that referring to Israel as an apartheid state “provides rhetorical cover to those who seek Israel’s destruction.”
The bill would remove restrictions preventing government contracts with companies that join economic campaigns against Israel.

The measure would allow certain things without congressional approval, like defending troops, embassies and allies, but not putting troops on the ground.
“These themes recur over and over again,” the Capital Jewish Museum’s executive director told JNS.
“We value free speech and expression, but also must continue to be a campus community where dangerous, unlawful actions are not tolerated,” a university spokesperson told JNS.
He was also asked about his message to Jewish New Yorkers, given “some backlash, some pushback against your remarks about the war, calling it an illegal war of aggression.”
