Maj. Gen. (res.) Doron Almog, chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency, and Mark Wilf, chairman of the board of governors, issued a statement today on behalf of the organization, saying, “We call on governments, authorities and international organizations committed to progressive values to take a stance against these alarming trends.”
In light of the increase in antisemitic incidents around the world, including the arson of synagogues, violence against Jewish institutions and other attacks on Jews, the leadership of the Jewish Agency is calling for immediate and uncompromising action in the fight against hatred and racism.
“This trend, fueled by ignorance, prejudice, and hatred, highlights the urgent need for vigilance and proactive measures,” wrote Almog and Wilf in their statement. “We must work together to eliminate this surge at every level. Antisemitism must not be tolerated in any form — whether blatant or covert. We must expect ardent responses against every expression of antisemitism, wherever and however it manifests.”
They added: “Antisemitism in any form has no place in a just and inclusive society.”
The leaders emphasized the inseparable connection between the Jewish state and world Jewry, especially during increasing challenges. “The bond between Israel and the global Jewish community is a cornerstone of our collective resilience. Especially during these challenging times, our shared partnership demonstrates its strength, fostering a sense of purpose and mutual responsibility,” they said.
Almog and Wilf also stated an uncompromising commitment to strengthening Jewish communities worldwide and protecting Jewish institutions. Since Oct. 7, the Jewish Agency’s Security Assistance Fund has provided life-saving security infrastructure for hundreds of Jewish communities in the United States and abroad. Moreover, the Jewish Agency’s JReady platform works with Israeli and global partners to develop emergency preparedness in Jewish communities.
“Together, we’ll stand against evil, to guarantee that Jewish communities across the globe can live without fear, remaining resilient, safe and proud,” concluded the Jewish Agency leaders.
