5.1-magnitude quake in Syria felt in Lebanon, Israel

Israelis reported feeling the quake as far south as Beersheva.

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake on Monday centered near Homs in central Syria was felt in Lebanon and Israel.

The quake hit at 11:56 p.m. local time, shaking Beirut and reaching as far south as Beersheva.

Its epicenter was 21 kilometers (13 miles) east of Homs, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. It took place at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

There were reports of collapsed houses near the epicenter but no reports of injuries.
