European Union to scrutinize Palestinian textbooks for signs of hatred, incitement

E.U. foreign-policy chief Federica Mogherini said they seek to “identify possible incitement to hate and violence and non-compliance with UNESCO standards regarding peace and tolerance in education.”

The European Union will investigate whether E.U. funds are going towards Palestinian textbooks teaching incitement to hatred and violence, its High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, announced on Wednesday.

The investigation seeks to “identify possible incitement to hate and violence and non-compliance with UNESCO standards regarding peace and tolerance in education,” she said. “Incitement to violence is incompatible with the promotion of the two-state solution and greatly exacerbates the lack of trust between the communities.”

“The announcement follows an investigation and campaign by IMPACT-se (Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education),” reported Ynet. “They found that the new Palestinian textbooks, releases in September 2018, are even more radical than previous editions, with hundreds of examples of extremism encouraging jihad, violence, demonization, and incitement against Israel and Jews.”

“Such hate has no place in our schools or our state, especially as we begin Jewish American Heritage Month,” said Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.
“While our ability to provide additional information at this time is limited, we will continue to keep the community informed,” the private D.C. university stated.
“This is not a prank. It was an act of intimidation meant to spread fear,” Vince Gasparro, a Liberal parliamentarian, told JNS.
“We welcomed this traitor into our nation with open arms,” the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan said. “And he repaid us by building a bomb and helping our great enemy.”
The “failed approach” to lasting peace between the countries has “allowed terrorist groups to entrench and enrich themselves, undermine the authority of the Lebanese state and endanger Israel’s northern border,” said State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott.
“One has to wonder how that humble pie tastes for the Democrats today,” Sam Markstein of the Republican Jewish Coalition told JNS.
