Yitzhak Yosef
Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel
Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef met with Emirati officials, inaugurated a new Jewish school in Dubai and took part in a ceremony with the rabbi of the local Jewish community.
The move comes in response to a High Court petition claiming that the rabbinate’s exclusion of women is discriminatory.
The Sephardic chief rabbi’s characterization of immigrants from the former Soviet Union as Communists, hostile to religion and haters of religion is “outrageous,” says Israel’s prime minister.
“His greatness was that he would defer to sages and great religious leaders. In all the battles fought by the Chief Rabbinate, he was always on our side like a protective wall,” said Chief Sephardi Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef.
“I have said in the past and I will say it again, what’s happening in Syria is genocide of women and children in its cruelest form, using weapons of mass destruction,” said Israel’s Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef.
