Campus Antisemitism

Rep. Tim Walberg is seeking a briefing from Daniel Biss, mayor of Evanston, Ill., over his “failure to protect Jewish students” after withholding support amid antisemitic activity at the university.
“There was nothing that explicitly connects antisemitism studies, which is a subdiscipline more popular in Europe, with the discipline of Holocaust studies,” Professor Adam Rovner told JNS.
“Imagine for Black History Month not letting the Black Student Union sponsor the resolution because they’re ‘political,’” Rabbi Daniel Levine, of the school’s Hillel, told JNS.
The public school system’s agreement with the California Faculty Association emphasizes “a mutual interest in safeguarding employees’ personal information and providing timely information to those impacted.”
Brian Cohen, executive director at the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life, told JNS that he hopes Jennifer Mnookin “will bring the reputation, experience and understanding that we need.”
“It is possible for the Jewish community to prevail in court, and we shouldn’t hesitate to use litigation to protect our rights when it is appropriate,” Kenneth Marcus, of the Brandeis Center, stated.
“Hopefully, the Cherry Hill school district will now think more carefully about how it responds to antisemitism,” the Zionist Organization of America told JNS.
A Jerusalem gala will also honor the legacy of slain activist Charlie Kirk.
The university’s court filing states that the demand is “extraordinary and unconstitutional.”
“These events are not part of any educational courses, and as noted, the views are the students’ own and do not represent Harvard Medical School or the Harvard School of Dental Medicine,” according to the school.
“We’re disappointed in the ruling,” a spokesman for the university told JNS.
