Elan Carr

The “Summit on Combating Anti-Semitism” was prompted by a rise in anti-Semitic incidents throughout the United States, coupled with two deadly synagogue shootings six months apart.
“We live in a time of danger,” said U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Elan Carr. “Any synagogue, every JCC should have guards. May they never be needed, but they should be there.”
“Anti-Semitism isn’t only about the Jews,” said Elan Carr. “Anti-Semitism is history’s greatest barometer of human misery, and a society that has imbibed its poison is rotten to the core.”
Ukraine is the only country other than Israel to have both a Jewish president and a Jewish prime minister.
Elan Carr declined to call out certain countries or leaders, in addition to specifying what course of action the Trump administration might take.
“There is a greater rise in new anti-Semitism that clothes itself as anti-Zionism. The anti-Semitism of the European street, of the college campus and of those [who] have embraced the notion that the Jewish people don’t have a right to their homeland,” he said.
“He is a committed Jew and pro-Israel advocate, and is smart as a whip. He is an extremely successful prosecutor,” said AEPi Foundation executive director Andy Borans.
