A rocket launched by Hamas in the Gaza Strip killed a Palestinian in Samaria on Tuesday.

The Palestinian—identified as Ali Muhammad Elyan, 34, from the Arab town of Baqa al-Sharqiya north of Tulkarm—died either from shrapnel or a direct hit, Hebrew media reported.

Palestinian reports blame Elyan’s death on shrapnel from an Iron Dome interceptor.

The Mayor of Baqa al-Sharqiya, Waleen Nathmi, told WAFA, the official Palestinian Authority news outlet, that Elyan died from falling shrapnel while standing in front of his house.

Six other Palestinians were injured by the rocket shrapnel, including two seriously, WAFA reported. Surrounding buildings and homes in the area were also damaged.
