A drone launched by Hamas from the Gaza Strip was shot down over Israeli territory on Thursday, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The drone was tracked by air defense systems until it was intercepted, the military said, adding that no casualties or damages were reported.

“In accordance with policy, no sirens were triggered,” the IDF stated.

Thursday’s interception marked the first time that a drone managed to infiltrate Israel’s airspace from the Strip since June 19, according to IDF data. That drone was intercepted by the Iron Dome air-defense system.

On Wednesday afternoon, air-defense systems shot down a rocket fired at Israel from the northern Gaza Strip, triggering air-raid sirens in the southern border communities of Netiv HaAsara and Yad Mordechai.

Israeli ground forces entered the coastal enclave on Oct. 27 following a weeks-long air campaign in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attacks in the northwestern Negev, in which terrorists massacred 1,200 people, wounded thousands more and abducted more than 250 to Gaza.

Jerusalem’s goals are to destroy Hamas as a military and ruling power, ensure that it can not threaten Israel again and return all the captives.

According to data last updated on Oct. 2, some 13,200 rockets, missiles and UAVs have been launched toward Israel from Gaza since Oct. 7.

A spokesperson for the organization told JNS that the updated report includes “anything that pertains to Zionism and Israel, including the ‘loyalty test’ for its members and declarations that show support or justification for terrorism, and that target Jewish people.”
“No one prosecuted these plaintiffs, fined them or sent them so much as a stern letter,” Mark Goldfeder of the National Jewish Advocacy Center told JNS. “They silenced themselves and then sued over the silence.”
The Anti-Defamation League told JNS that “the letter contains explicit, threatening language targeting Jewish people and relies on vile antisemitic tropes that have historically been used to incite violence.”
A new Quinnipiac University poll found that 51% of respondents view Gov. Josh Shapiro favorably, while 58% said they had not heard enough about state treasurer Stacy Garrity to form an opinion.
