The son of Brazil’s newly elected president confirmed to Jared Kushner—senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump and his son-in-law—that his father would move Brazil’s embassy to Jerusalem.

Eduardo Bolsonaro told Kushner during a meeting in Washington on Tuesday that “the question should not be whether we will do it, but when we will do it.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of Jair Bolsonaro, who will be inaugurated as Brazil’s new president on Jan. 1, was elected by a landslide to a second term as a Brazilian congressman.

“Israel is a sovereign state and we shall duly respect that. Like all other countries, they have the right to choose their capital city,” the incoming Brazilian president has previously said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to attend Jair’s inauguration. He has praised Bolsonaro for announcing his decision to move his country’s embassy to Jerusalem in the early days following his election.

“I congratulate my friend Brazilian President-Elect, Jair Bolsonaro, for his intention to move the Brazilian Embassy to Jerusalem, a historic, correct and exciting step!” tweeted Netanyahu. “I am certain that your election will lead to a great friendship between our nations and to a strengthening of Israel-Brazil ties. I’m looking forward to your visit to Israel.”

Bolsonaro has declared that his first international trip as president will be to Israel.
