Outgoing Prime Minister Yair Lapid met with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and the IDF General Staff Forum at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv on Thursday.

The prime minister addressed the General Staff on the regional difficulties confronting the State of Israel in a variety of fields, with a focus on national security challenges.

Lapid thanked the IDF and the security establishment for the privilege of working with them and for their outstanding contributions, from August’s “Operation Breaking Dawn” aerial escalation with Islamic Jihad in Gaza through the ongoing “Operation Break the Wave” against terrorists in Samaria that began last March and their other actions in all areas—both open and covert—for the security of Israel.

Lapid noted that the operations of the IDF and the other security services had allowed thousands of Israeli people to continue with their everyday lives.
