Anti-Israel U.N. official Francesca Albanese has been accused of antisemitic hate speech.
The university’s court filing states that the demand is “extraordinary and unconstitutional.”
“Let us be clear: This imagery is not political speech or protest. It is hate. It is intimidation,” the Federation stated.
The arson of Beth Israel Congregation “is not merely an attack on a building,” the bipartisan measure states. “It is an attack on the right of individuals to worship as they deem proper.”
The new legislation draws strong support from major Jewish bodies for tackling antisemitism, but the Australian Jewish Association warns it was rushed and threatens free speech.
“These events are not part of any educational courses, and as noted, the views are the students’ own and do not represent Harvard Medical School or the Harvard School of Dental Medicine,” according to the school.
“It is imperative that Senate-appointed representatives on the council are fully engaged and steadfastly supportive of its mission,” the board stated.
The five boys, who were dressed in traditional Chassidic garb, were walking home when they were subjected to antisemitic abuse and threats.
“The survival of the Jewish people enabled me to survive this journey,” said Lukáš Klement.
“Long live the student intifada,” wrote the student group behind the May 5 protest, which allegedly resulted in $1 million in damages.
“I don’t think it’s particularly brave to rip into Israel,” Eli Lebowicz, a stand-up comedian in New York City, told JNS. “It’s more brave to defend Israel.”
“We’re disappointed in the ruling,” a spokesman for the university told JNS.
