“Let us be clear: This imagery is not political speech or protest. It is hate. It is intimidation,” the Federation stated.

Signage featuring antisemitic language and Nazi images was discovered on the grounds of Shalom Park in the city of Charlotte, N.C., a campus that houses synagogues, schools and community organizations, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte.

A purported photo of the sign, circulated on social media, reads: “Whether you swung to the left or whether you swung to the right, we will simply swing you by the neck. Join your local Nazis.” The text is accompanied by imagery of a noose hanging from a swastika.

The Federation said the signage, found on the morning of Jan. 20, was removed promptly. “Let us be clear: This imagery is not political speech or protest,” the Jewish agency said in a statement posted to Facebook. “It is hate. It is intimidation. And it is intended to unsettle, threaten, and dehumanize members of our community. While deeply disturbing, it does not define who we are.”

It added that “importantly, no buildings were entered, and the materials were removed before the school day began.”

Federation said it is “working in close coordination with all Shalom Park agencies, Shalom Park Security and law enforcement to ensure the incident is fully documented, investigated and addressed with the seriousness it warrants.”

The incident comes amid broader concern about rising antisemitic activity in North Carolina. The Anti-Defamation League recorded 175 occurrences of Jew-hatred statewide in 2024, up from 151 in 2023.

The North Carolina Democratic Party’s Jewish Caucus published an explainer on antisemitism last summer, calling the rise in incidents “a subject of increasing concern, reflecting a broader national rise in hate crimes.”

“I’m happy that the University of Washington, for literally the first time ever, has made the correct decision to not have an America-hating communist spread his hatred and terrible ideology to young people at our taxpayer funded universities,” Republican state representative Travis Couture told JNS.
The cohort includes 392 new immigrants—246 men and 146 women.
The fatalities were identified as Maj. (res.) Harel Birenstock, 34, from Nokdim, and Chief Master Sgt. (res.) Tamir Vaknin, 33, from Eilat.
The announcement comes as Israeli banks are expected to end correspondent banking services to Palestinian counterparts.
