From a solid state? Your vote can even matter more!

It’s vital for American citizens living in Israel to recognize the importance of voting in the upcoming U.S. elections, even if they come from “solid” non-swing states.

The rationale for voting has two compelling dimensions: local electoral competitiveness and the potential for long-term political influence. First, while a state may not be competitive in the presidential race, it often hosts fiercely contested Senate or congressional races. For instance, many American Israelis hail from states like New York, in which the 17th district is a hotly contested seat this cycle. And that’s just a single example. In these elections every vote counts, and even a few hundred ballots can sway the outcome. Congressional races are numerous and can have a significant impact on issues that resonate with expatriates, including foreign policy toward Israel. Engaging in these local elections allows American citizens in Israel to make their voices heard on matters that directly affect their lives. Second, the influence of American citizens living in Israel extends beyond individual elections. Many expatriates come from specific districts in the United States. This concentration creates a unique opportunity for constituents living abroad to leverage their political power. Representatives whose districts include a significant number of American Israelis are likely to take notice and engage with the community. This engagement can lead to a better understanding of issues important to expatriates, such as U.S. foreign policy regarding Israel. By voting, American citizens signal to their representatives that their constituency extends beyond U.S. borders, creating possibilities for meaningful dialogue and advocacy. This dynamic is especially crucial in traditionally blue states, where the political landscape has seen a rise in progressive representatives with anti-Israel agendas. For American citizens in Israel, voting and forming a cohesive bloc is essential for making their voices heard. By becoming an organized group that knows how to communicate its needs and demands, expatriates can create inroads that have not previously existed with their representatives. Thus, it is vital for Americans living in Israel from states like New York, New Jersey and California to register today and receive their ballots through iVoteIsrael.com. Together, we can form a united front that advocates for our interests and ensures that our perspectives are considered in U.S. policy discussions. By participating in elections, we not only empower ourselves but also contribute to a political landscape that reflects the voices of all Americans, regardless of where they live. It’s not too late to register to vote in the upcoming elections. Register Here
