They seek to mobilize young Jewish voters in Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and other swing states through expertise in millennial and Gen-Z engagement.
The main convention will consist of two-hour prime-time programming from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time with events throughout the day.
“I was raised with the conviction that Jews everywhere must support one another and the State of Israel in order to secure our collective well-being,” he says.
With a wide-open field of nine candidates to succeed Democrat Rep. Joe Kennedy, some fear that a split of the pro-Israel/Jewish vote could let a pro-BDS candidate enter Congress.
The Jewish Democratic Council of America said California Sen. Kamala Harris “prioritizes the same issues as Jewish voters and will work diligently to defend our values in the White House.”
If nominated, Harris would become the first black woman to be chosen as a running mate for a major-party candidate. She would also be the third woman tapped for the vice-presidential slot, following former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and New York Rep. Geraldine Ferraro.
The Democratic platform includes language that expresses support for the U.S.-Israel relationship, a pledge to maintain security funding for Israel and backing for a two-state solution.
U.S. President Donald Trump “continues to ignore our international allies and pursue his maximalist approach without any real plan to verifiably prevent a nuclear-armed Iran,” says Aaron Keyak, Jewish outreach director for the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign.
Cori Bush won 48.9 percent of the vote, while Rep. Lacy Clay, who has been in Congress since 2001, received 45.5 percent.
“As American Jews, we’re proud to support Representative @IlhanMN in her re-election campaign,” tweeted the group that supports BDS.
Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar will face four opponents in her district’s Aug. 11 Democratic primary.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Minn.) has been accused of peddling an anti-Israel and anti-Semitic agenda.
