Israel’s January 6 moment leads to a thrilling murder mystery in ‘A Death in Jerusalem’

“A Death in Jerusalem” will enthrall readers who love mysteries, historical fiction, and are intrigued by the history of the State of Israel.

It’s the latest Adam Lapid mystery (out from Lion Cub Publishing in March 2022), a book that transports readers to the historical streets of West Jerusalem in 1952. It’s the early days of the State of Israel, and the country is in turmoil. The government is considering negotiating directly with Germany for reparations for the Holocaust, a prospect much of the population views as an abomination. The novel begins with Israel’s January 6 Moment, the storming of the Knesset by protestors following a massive anti-reparations demonstration on January 7, 1952 in Jerusalem.

Our hero, Holocaust survivor and private detective Adam Lapid takes part in the demonstration and is arrested. Adam faces a lengthy prison term, but he’s rescued by a wealthy industrialist who wants Adam to solve the mystery of his daughter’s suicide.

As Adam scours West Jerusalem for answers, he uncovers a connection between his case and a recent unsolved murder. He also meets an enigmatic woman with plenty of secrets and is hunted by a ruthless cop who blames Adam for a crime he didn’t commit.

A Death in Jerusalem is a thrilling mystery novel with a rich historical background. It will enthrall readers who love mysteries, historical fiction, and are intrigued by the history of the State of Israel.
