Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a special Knesset session on the issue of the hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.
“We will be intensifying the fighting in the coming days,” said the Israeli premier.
The security area will be located on the Gaza side of the border and access will be restricted to IDF personnel.
The PM also denied “erroneous reports” that the U.S. had prevented Israel from taking action against other hostile entities in the region.
The U.S. president urged the PM “to stand down” even as Israeli warplanes were in the air, the “WSJ” reported.
Members of the Heroism Forum urged the government to resist international pressure to stop the war.
The premier’s comments came after National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi appeared to indicate that Jerusalem has softened its position.
“We are attacking Hamas with fire—hellish fire. Everywhere, including today,” said the Israeli premier.
The Israeli and Indian premiers discussed the importance of securing the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
