The Israel Defense Forces said on Monday night it intercepted a terror drone that had been making its way to the Jewish state “from the east.”

The unmanned aerial vehicle was downed “before it crossed into Israeli territory, no alerts were activated according to policy,” the IDF stated.

Although the military did not state who launched the UAV, the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen took responsibility for the launch.

In a statement, the terrorist organization claimed it targeted an “Israeli military target” in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa region using a “Jaffa” suicide drone.

Last Friday night, the Israeli Air Force also intercepted an attack drone that was launched toward the country by the Houthis from Yemen.

Since the war against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip resumed on March 18, the Houthis have fired several ballistic missiles at Israel.

Israeli military officials reportedly believe that the Iranian-backed terror group now possesses only a limited number of operational ballistic missile launchers, representing a sharp decline in their stockpile.

The significant reduction in their missile-launch capabilities is due to a series of coordinated airstrikes by Israeli and U.S. forces, reports stated.
