On Friday night, Aug. 4, the Israeli media reported that “Jewish terrorists” had entered the Palestinian village of Burqa in the Binyamin region and murdered a Palestinian in a deliberate act of terrorist murder.
The claim was based on the Palestinian Authority’s propaganda organ the Wafa “news” service. The Israel Defense Forces spokesman, the Shin Bet and the Israeli Police also adopted and presented the Wafa allegation as fact.
The “Jewish terrorists” in question were not given a fair hearing. Observing Shabbat, they did not speak to the media and were unaware that they were being demonized as terrorists until Saturday night.
As it happened, the entire tale was fictional.

After providing a details explanation of the events, which were actually a Palestinian mob’s attempt to lynch a Jewish shepherd and his friends who came to his defense, Caroline places them in the wider context of the Israeli left’s effort to demonize and slander all groups in Israeli society that are not on the left.
This includes the ultra-Orthodox community, Sephardic and Mizrachi Jews and conservative Israeli organizations, such as the Kohelet Policy Forum, that have the nerve to advance positions that the left opposes.
As Caroline notes, getting the truth out is the most important thing that anyone who wants to defend Israel and democracy in the Jewish State can do. Ignorance is the greatest weapon of tyranny; knowledge is the greatest weapon of freedom.
