King Abdullah: ‘Duty of every Muslim to deter Israeli escalations’ against holy sites
During an audience with the Jordanian monarch attended by Muslim and Christian leaders from Jerusalem, P.A. head Mahmoud Abbas vowed to continue the “resistance against the occupation.”
The statement comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Jordan’s king he would uphold the status quo in Jerusalem.
The two men discussed regional issues, in particular strategic, security and economic cooperation between the countries.
Abdullah II also warned that the Palestinians may launch another terror war.

“Jordan has dropped from the warmest peace with Israel some five years ago to the coldest,” said Jonathan Schanzer, senior vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
