Former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was stopped at the last minute from sanctioning an IDF intelligence unit, according to Israel’s former U.S. ambassador Michael Herzog.
Michael Herzog, the Israeli envoy who largely operated behind the scenes, was praised as a “supremely efficient” ambassador admired on both sides of the aisle.
In one of his final speeches as ambassador, Michael Herzog cited the “unprecedented political and diplomatic support” for Israel from both sides of the aisle.
“As we gather here tonight, extensive efforts are being made to bring about a new hostage deal,” said Michael Herzog, the Israeli envoy in Washington.
The outgoing Israeli ambassador in Washington told JNS that he is “deeply grateful” to the senator, who has “unwavering dedication” to the U.S.-Israeli bond.
“Yechiel Leiter is a highly capable diplomat, an eloquent speaker and possesses a deep understanding of American culture and politics,” the Israeli prime minister said.
“Overall, her record is positive, and she has often expressed support for the State of Israel and American aid to Israel,” Michael Herzog said.
Netanyahu’s Likud Party charged that “Israel is not a banana republic, but an independent and proud democracy.”
The Israeli prime minister is scheduled to address the world body on Friday.
Michael Herzog will move into the $10 million property in the Forest Hills neighborhood.
Washington is “deeply troubled” by Jerusalem’s move to repeal the portion of a 2005 law that barred Jews from parts of northern Samaria.
