Israeli air defenses on Sunday morning intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, according to the Israeli military.

The attack triggered air-raid sirens across central and southern Israel, including in Jerusalem, the Dead Sea region, Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit, Kiryat Arba and numerous surrounding communities.

Sirens were sounded in accordance with standard protocol as defense systems engaged the threat, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

A large interceptor fragment was later located near Hebron. Following the launch, airspace at Ben-Gurion International Airport was temporarily closed and then reopened within minutes, according to Israeli authorities.

There were no initial reports of injuries due to the attack.

Iran-backed Houthi terrorists have escalated their attacks on Israel in recent weeks, including a direct hit near Ben-Gurion International Airport on May 4.

On May 22, two additional ballistic missiles were fired from Yemen toward Israel—both intercepted successfully. In recent weeks, multiple siren alerts have been triggered across the country, including during high-profile events such as Lag B’Omer and the Eurovision broadcast, as part of what the IDF described as precautionary measures in response to detected launches.
