The suspect, who was 17 at the time of the offense, is due in court on May 20.
Police told JNS that an officer was injured as a result of protesters attempting to remove barriers and that no arrests were made.
Officials condemned prosecutors’ alleged decision to go after Jewish circumcisers, calling it antisemitic and a threat to religious freedom.
“Protect British Jews against those who wish us harm,” said the Board of Deputies of British Jews and the Jewish Leadership Council.
“People are being murdered because of antisemitism on American soil, and thousands more are threatened,” stated Jonathan Greenblatt, of the Anti-Defamation League.
The incidents are being investigated as hate crime criminal mischief.
“Another attack on another synagogue,” the mission wrote on X. “We cannot wait for more attacks.”
Naveed Akram, who is being held in a high-security prison, has already been indicted for scores of serious crimes.
The case is being handled by counter-terrorism officers. The memorial wall reportedly features images of protesters allegedly killed by the Iranian regime in January.
“At least one student was injured by this incident, which is now under an investigation that will examine among other things whether individuals were targeted based on their Jewish faith,” the private D.C. school said.
A deadline in the law has yet to pass, but Rabbi Josh Joseph, of the Orthodox Union, told JNS that “we expect the mayor and the NYPD to work in close coordination with the community to ensure that the intent of this legislation is fully upheld.”
The Jewish governor of Illinois, widely thought to be a candidate for president, accused the Israeli prime minister of making it “near-impossible” to obtain peace.
