At 43,000 square feet and 20 stories tall, the Adelson National Center for Advanced Cancer Therapy will be constructed in two stages over five years.
New program will help “make the Jewish catastrophe a firm fact in the international consciousness, a fact beyond denial—in the hope that the world which turned a blind eye during World War II will not do so again and will ensure that such events never recur,” says Dr. Miriam Adelson.
The contribution will allow construction to commence on the Adelson National Center for Advanced Cancer Therapy, which will include an oncology institute, inpatient units, clinics and Israel’s first proton therapy institute.
“We can’t allow that to happen. We can’t allow the current administration to reverse the historic change, the historic progress we brought to the Middle East,” says the former secretary of state.
The online tribute included eulogies and personal stories from family and friends, as well as prayers and small groups of Jewish text study focused on his legacy of giving to the community.
“When parents don’t care about Israel, their children won’t either,” says the Zionist American philanthropist, who passed away on Jan 11.
Dr. Miriam Adelson, his wife and partner in so many of his projects, eulogized him as someone who could not be replaced due to his sheer impact on so many levels.
“We have lost an American patriot, a dedicated defender of Israel, an extraordinary philanthropist, and a dear mentor and friend,” said Republican Jewish Coalition national chairman and former Sen. Norm Coleman, and executive director Matt Brooks.
While he may be best known for his political involvement, his contributions to the American Jewish community and Israel, especially in education and health care, could prove his lasting legacy.
