The Nassau County executive addressed about 350 people at Manhattan’s Temple Emanu-El, pledging to use the governor’s powers to oppose policies he says threaten Jewish safety.
“This political environment could discourage congressional committee staff and federal agency personnel from pursuing investigations or enforcement actions involving antisemitism,” Karen Paikin Barall of the Brandeis Center told JNS.
“We urge Congress to make the district fully accountable for its decisions and provide real consequences that lead to actionable change,” Tali Klima of the Bay Area Jewish Coalition told JNS.
Police are investigating ongoing direct threats against Tammy Caputi, a Jewish candidate for the Arizona state House.
The Nassau County Police Department told JNS that Bruce Blakeman released a statement about a fire at the Young Israel of West Hempstead, but instead of providing that, a Blakeman rep asked JNS to name the police spokesman.
The presumptive next representative of New York’s 12th Congressional District spoke with reporters after being detained by the Israeli military for harvesting olives without permission.
“They get social credit within their political bases in terms of talking about settler violence and and taking up the side of the Palestinians on issues between them and Israel,” Rafael Mangual of the Manhattan Institute told JNS.
“Our mission and strategy remain the same,” AIPAC spokeswoman Deryn Sousa told JNS.
“If it’s the cost of living or the economy as the top issue, Hochul has resounding support,” the poll assistant director stated. “If it’s immigration, Blakeman leads overwhelmingly.”
The New York Times-Siena survey found Democrats leading in House, Senate and gubernatorial races as voters gave the party higher marks on the economy, gas prices and immigration.
“The security establishment views the arrival of dozens of activists as an act intended solely to provoke, which undermines the harvesting process,” an Israeli military official told JNS.
The anti-Israel Democrat led the former Republican congressman in the Michigan Senate race by two points, well within the margin of error.
