Created as a parallel force to the regular Iranian army after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps arms, trains, funds and deploys radical forces across the Mideast.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been a main part of Iran’s ambitions for regional hegemony through its presence in countries such as Syria and Iraq, assisting the regime’s proxies, including Hezbollah.
“I’m optimistic that what we’re doing will give us a better likelihood that we’ll achieve outcomes that would be better for the people of Israel and the Palestinian people,” said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The Trump administration understands the need for Israel to have “overriding security control” in the West Bank in any future peace deal with the Palestinians, said U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
“[U.S. President Donald] Trump’s move is important in that it teaches a lesson to Arab leaders: The longer you wait to make peace with Israel, the less you’re going to get,” said David Weinberg, vice president of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security.
