The popular Israeli restaurant Pitmaster, known for its immersive multicourse meat feasts, announced on Jan. 17 that it has begun construction of an establishment in Southeast Florida.

“Pitmaster’s smoke is coming to Miami,” the restaurant announced on Instagram. “Over six years, with four branches in Israel, in a journey of partnership, passion for meat and hard work that drain into an exciting moment.”

The post ended with “Miami, be ready, the Pitmaster show is on the way,” and was met with enthusiastic feedback in the comments.

The Israeli restaurant launched in November 2019 in Petach Tikvah, a suburb of Tel Aviv, and expanded to three other sites in the country. Its model is experiential, featuring an open butcher counter where chefs prepare and plate multiple courses, asking diners to come up and help. In the backdrop of food prep, a DJ plays music to stir up the crowd.

“Having attended Pitmaster in Jerusalem about 18 months ago, I know that it will be a special experience for all diners, kosher and non-kosher alike, when they open in Miami, and later, in New York,” Dani Klein, founder of YeahThatsKosher, told JNS.

The establishment at Aventura Waterways in North Miami—near the heavily Jewish city of Hollywood, Fla.—is set to open in April, after Passover, under ORB kosher supervision, said Klein.

In September, another location is coming to the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, he added, under the supervision of the Orthodox Union.

“Having attended Pitmaster in Jerusalem about 18 months ago, I know that it will be a special experience for all diners, kosher and non-kosher alike, when they open in Miami and later in New York,” Klein told JNS.
