In a show of solidarity and commitment, 180 teachers, school principals and community leaders from 22 countries around the world have arrived in Israel this week to take part in Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund’s (KKL-JNF) annual educational seminar. Despite the ongoing security challenges, their arrival underscores dedication to Zionist education and their unwavering support for the people of Israel.

Organized by KKL-JNF’s Education and Community Division, the week-long seminar lasts from July 15-22 and includes guided tours across the country; visits to sites of ecological, historical and national significance; and meetings with IDF representatives, educators and local leaders. Participants will also talk with those involved in the rehabilitation of kibbutzim affected by the Hamas-led terrorist attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

They will also be taking part in professional lectures and workshops focused on innovation, Zionism, sustainability and technology.

The educators hail from a range of countries, including the United States, Canada, France, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia, Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Kosovo. All are involved in Zionist education within communities in the Jewish Diaspora.

Sar Shalom-Jerbi, manager of the Education and Community Division, stated that “the presence of these educators in Israel at such a time is a powerful declaration of commitment and moral courage. We are honored to host them and to offer a firsthand experience of Israel’s resilience, diversity and spirit.”

And when they return to their home communities, he added, “they will carry with them a renewed sense of mission—as ambassadors of Zionism, connection, heritage and love for the Land of Israel.”
