Elad

Security guard Shimon Maatuf was attacked last May in the central city of Elad by two Palestinians armed with axes.
Shimon Maatuf was attacked by ax-wielding Palestinians in Elad during the holiday, suffering severe head wounds.
Residents burned tires and stoned Israeli forces during the operation.
Assad Yussef Assad al-Rafa’i and Sabhi Imad Sabhi Abu Shakir were indicted on three counts of aggravated murder and committing acts of terror.
As’ad Yousef As’ad al-Rifa’i, 19, and Subhi Emad Subhi Abu Shqeir, 20, were captured in a forest near the central Israeli city following a 60-hour manhunt.
“Our enemies have embarked on a murderous campaign against Jews. Their goal is to break our spirit. They will fail,” tweeted Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
“Our hearts are with the victims and loved ones of those killed, and we wish those injured a speedy recovery,” said U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Our commitment to our Israeli partners, Israel’s security, is ironclad,” said Ned Price.
The suspects, who attacked people in the city’s central park by Ibn Gvirol Street, were believed to be armed with an ax and perhaps a firearm. With the aid of at least one helicopter, security forces are searching the area for the assailants.
