Former U.S. official Elliott Abrams, chairman of the Tikvah Fund, called the Hamas massacre a “wake-up call that Biden’s Iran policy has failed.”
While several speakers pushed back on American liberalism and “wokeism” gone mad, the focus was kept on Jewish conservatism and education, and Israel’s future as a conservative democracy.
“A Jewish museum that has permitted [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] to speak during her campaign for election is stating falsehoods when it says [Ron] DeSantis can’t speak because ‘we don’t do politics,’ ” said Elliott Abrams, chairman of the Tikvah Fund.
Elliott Abrams, head of the Tikvah Fund and a foreign-policy veteran of the Reagan, Bush and Trump administrations, joins JNS editor-in-chief Jonathan Tobin to talk diplomacy, democracy and the future of American Jewry.
“My advice on negotiating with Iran is to recognize that the United States has the upper hand. Recognize that the regime in Tehran is facing serious pressures,” the U.S. Special Representative for Iran tells JNS, in large part due to the “maximum pressure” campaign the Trump administration has applied for the last few years.
“If they want sanctions relief, they know that they’re going to need to enter some kind of negotiation after January 20,” said U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Elliott Abrams.
“We think the Biden administration has a great opportunity because there is so much leverage on Iran through the sanctions,“ says Elliott Abrams.
The meeting between the Israeli prime minister and the Saudi crown prince is “an insult to the nation and an invitation to attack Palestinian rights,” according to senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri.
The Trump administration, along with many foreign-policy experts and Mideast leaders, believes Tehran has not adhered to the letter of the nuclear deal, nor has it acted in good faith.
Jack Rosen, president of the American Jewish Congress, said Elliott Abrams “will have little time to settle in,” citing the upcoming deadline to extend the U.N. arms embargo on Iran.
