Former CIA agent Valerie Plame, who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Mexico in 2020, acknowledged on CNN on Monday that she was “foolish” and “embarrassed” for sharing an anti-Semitic article in 2017 titled, “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.”

“The only thing that I focused on in that article was—I thought it was a very bad idea to get out of the Iran nuclear deal,” said Plame, who is running for the seat that will be vacated by Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), who is running to replace the retiring Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.). “That’s very much what I was focused on. I stupidly did not read the rest of the article and when I did, I was really horrified.”

“It’s anti-Semitic. That has no place anytime, anywhere. It’s not who I am. It’s not what I believe,” she continued. “And I apologized sincerely and with heartfelt conviction as I possibly could.”

In the article shared by Plame on Twitter, author Philip Giraldi wrote that “what makes the war engine run is provided by American Jews who have taken upon themselves the onerous task of starting a war with a country that does not conceivably threaten the United States.”

“So it is safe to say that much of the agitation to do something about Iran comes from Israel and from American Jews,” he added. “Indeed, I would opine that most of the fury from Congress re Iran comes from the same source, with AIPAC showering our Solons on the Potomac with ‘fact sheets’ explaining how Iran is worthy of annihilation because it has pledged to ‘destroy Israel,’ which is both a lie and an impossibility as Tehran does not have the resources to carry out such a task. The AIPAC lies are then picked up and replayed by an obliging media, where nearly every ‘expert’ who speaks about the Middle East on television and radio or who is interviewed for newspaper stories is Jewish.”

Plame, whose career ended after her identity was infamously leaked in 2003, has since deleted her Twitter account.
